The Next Chapter for Sheep in Wolf's Clothing

Growing the Flock: the next chapter for Sheep in Wolf's Clothing

When we started Sheep in Wolf's Clothing, we set ourselves two goals: to brew big beer experiences at session strength and create opportunities for people most businesses overlook. Flavour that punches above its ABV. Beer you can actually have more than one of, brewed for the people who want to be part of the night, not floored by it.

A few years on, that idea has carried us further than we dared hope - and we think the next chapter is the most exciting one yet. So we wanted to pull back the curtain a little: where we've got to, and why now feels like the moment to grow.

SiWC so Far

Two things have always sat at the heart of this brewery, side by side.

The first is the beer. We're delighted that what comes out of our tanks has gone on to win international awards - recognition that the "big beer experience, session strength" approach isn't a gimmick, it's just good brewing. We'd rather earn a quiet nod from people who enjoy their beer than shout about it, but we'll admit the medals don't hurt.

The second is the reason we get out of bed. We exist to create work opportunities for people who are physically and / or neurologically diverse - to build a workplace where difference is not a problem. That's the bit you can't taste in the glass, but it's the bit we're proudest of. It's why #WeGiveAFlock is more than a hashtag for us.

Put simply: we've spent these first years proving that you can make genuinely excellent beer and build a genuinely inclusive business at the same time. The two aren't in tension. They reinforce each other.

Why Grow Now

Demand for the kind of thoughtful, lower-strength, full-flavoured beer we make has only grown - and so has the appetite for businesses that stand for something. We've reached the point that most growing breweries reach sooner or later: the ceiling isn't ideas, or appetite, or goodwill. It's capacity, space, time, and the team to do it all justice.

To keep brewing more of what people love, reach more of the people who want it, and - crucially - create more of the inclusive roles that are the whole reason we're here, we're investing in the next stage of the business. More beer, more opportunities, more reach.

Funding the Next Chapter

To fund this next phase, we're carrying out an investment round under the UK government's Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), and we've received Advance Assurance from HMRC for the first tranche. We're handling that process privately and directly with eligible investors - so you won't find the figures or the offer here.

Whatever you choose - joining the flock, drinking the beer, or simply spreading the word - thank you for being part of our mission. The best chapters are the ones you write with other people, and we can't wait to write this one.
